Introduction

In the previous chapters we have got to know the theoretical foundations of critical thinking – from logical elements through structures of argumentation to cognitive biases, fallacies, intellectual virtues and scientific methods. In this concluding chapter we will focus on how we can apply these concepts and skills in practice.

Critical thinking is not an abstract intellectual exercise, but a practical skill that can and should be applied in all areas of life. From everyday decisions through professional challenges to social questions – critical thinking helps us to make clearer, more well-founded and more considered judgements.

In this chapter we will get to know practical strategies and tools for critical thinking in various contexts, identify obstacles to critical thinking and explore ways of overcoming them, and create a personal development plan for continuous growth as a critical thinker.
